Overview
In the prior two sections, we setup a Group for Company 1, a Source Name Template for SalesOrderDetail, and applied both to a Source, Company 1 - SalesOrderDetail. On this page, we will perform our first clone to create "Basic Clone - SalesOrderDetail". A Source that is identical to Company 1 - SalesOrderDetail, except that it exists in a newly created "Basic Clone" Group.
The Setup
Below is the Company 1 - SalesOrderDetail Source. It is the only Source in its Group.
All alone
Navigating to the Applied Objects tab in the Groups page for Company 1, the user can see that there is only one assoicated object.
Only 1 Associated Source
Performing the Clone
Note: Cloning a group happens within a specific project. A group name can exist in multiple projects so be sure to check the right project is selected before cloning.
Now we will clone the "Company 1" Group, to create the "Basic Clone" Group. First, the user must navigate to the Groups page of the UI from the main menu and locate the Group they desire to clone. Along the right side of the screen, a triple dot button exists where users will click to find the option to Clone.
Clicking the Clone button opens a new Group page where users will enter details about the new group.
The following fields need to be populated:
- Group Name: Name of the new group to be created during the clone process
- Description: Open text description of what the new group entails
- Tokens: Only required when tokens are used in the group being cloned.
In this example, we will name the new group "Basic Clone".
New Group Clone Page
Clicking "Clone" will proceed to clone, or duplicate, all of the objects within the Group and attach the new Group name to those objects making them unique. After selecting Clone, users are brought to the Project imports page as the clone is essentially importing a new set of configurations into the project. The status icon will initially indicate the clone is in progress and ultimately show as succeeded (green check mark) or failed (red exclamation point).
If the clone process fails, users should select the Logs icon for the clone to review the error message. After correcting the issue blocking the clone from succeeding, users can restart the clone process by following the same steps or using the triple dot menu on the clone import record and selecting the "Restart" option.
After the Import is successful, the new cloned Group will appear in the Groups page of the project.
The newly created Group
The newly created Source will also be available in the Sources list with identical settings to the original Company 1 Sales Order Detail Source.

What's Next
This simple example showed how Cloning creates exact copies of Sources. In the next sections, we will explore how Relations and Rules can be used in Cloning to create brand new Relations and Source Specific Rules.
